Division of Economics

overview – Enrollment Limit: 6 students

The Division of Economics aims to develop an analysis and take concrete measures towards a resolution of the problems faced by local communities and international society by making use of the theories and methods of economics and business science. Although this division is divided into three courses depending on areas of study, all the courses in this division actively accept international students and working adults besides students in general.

Diploma Policy

The degree will be awarded to those who have acquired basic knowledge and research methods in economics, business administration, and related adjacent fields as well as broad or interdisciplinary knowledge and research methods. Additionally, recipients must have the ability to think, judge, and express themselves logically based on their specialized knowledge, and who are proactive in tackling problems.

This division confers one of the following degrees: Master of Economics, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Arts.

Degree requirements

(1) Master’s degree (Economics)

Students must take courses mainly in “Economics Theory and Policy” and “International Society and Economy” courses must acquire the prescribed number of credits on economic theory research, quantitative analysis, institutional analysis, economic history research, etc. In addition, the student must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the short-term (one-year) enrollment program ) related to the educational and research content listed above or pass the Qualifying Examination(QE).

(2) Master’s degree (Business Administration)

Students must take courses mainly in the “Management Information Course” acquire the prescribed number of credits on theoretical research in management and accounting, organizational analysis, strategic research, etc. In addition, the student must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the short-term (one-year) enrollment program) related to the education and research content listed above or pass the Qualifying Examination(QE).

(3) Master’s degree (Art)

The student must take courses mainly in the “Economic Theory and Policy” and “International Society and Economy” courses and, based on traditional education and research in economics, learn approaches from other fields in the social sciences such as political science, sociology, and history, and acquire the prescribed number of credits on the interdisciplinary education and research. In addition, students must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the short-term (one-year) enrollment program) related to the education and research content listed above or pass the Qualifying Examination (QE).
