Division of Economics
Overview – Enrollment Limit: 6 students
Division of Economics Our program offers four specialized courses designed to support students through detailed instruction, aiming to generate innovative research that addresses challenges in a globalized society. At the same time, we cultivate highly skilled professionals with both advanced research abilities and practical, applied expertise.
Economic Theory and Policy Course : Focuses on developing professionals with strong academic and practical skills in areas such as economic theory, policy, regional economics, public finance, finance, and environmental studies.
Global Community and Economy Course : Explores the structure of international society and economy from various perspectives—institutions, history, and regions—to foster professionals with comprehensive analytical and research capabilities.
Management Information Course : Equips students with advanced skills in business administration, accounting, and information science, preparing them for careers as expert professionals or researchers.
Digital Economic Course : Builds expertise in data collection and analysis to understand economic activities in the digital age, nurturing professionals who can meet today’s social and technological demands.
Diploma Policy
This degree is awarded to those who have acquired a basic knowledge of and research methods in economics, business administration, and related adjacent fields, as well as broad or interdisciplinary knowledge and research methods. Additionally, recipients must have the ability to think critically, make informed judgments, and express themselves logically based on their specialized knowledge, and be proactive in tackling problems.
This division confers one of the following degrees: Master of Economics, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Philosophy.
Degree requirements
(1) Master of Economics
Students must take courses mainly in “Economics Theory and Policy”, “International Society and Economy” and “Digital Economic” courses to acquire the prescribed number of credits in economic theory research, quantitative analysis, institutional analysis, and economic history research, among other areas. In addition, the student must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the Digital Economic Course and the short-term enrollment program) related to the educational and research content listed above, or pass the Qualifying Examination (QE).
(2) Master of Business Administration
Students must take courses mainly in the “Management Information Course” and “Digital Economic Course” to acquire the prescribed number of credits for theoretical research in management and accounting, organizational analysis, strategic research, and so on. In addition, the student must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the Digital Economic Course and the short-term enrollment program) related to the education and research content listed above or pass the Qualifying Examination (QE).
(3) Master of Philosophy
The student must take courses mainly in the “Economic Theory and Policy”, “International Society and Economy” and “Digital Economic” courses and, based on traditional education and research in economics, learn approaches from other fields in the social sciences such as political science, sociology, and history, and acquire the prescribed number of credits on the interdisciplinary education and research. In addition, students must submit a master’s thesis (a research paper is also acceptable for students in the Digital Economic Couse and the short-term enrollment program) related to the education and research content listed above or pass the Qualifying Examination (QE).
