Educational Support System: Educational program up to degree acquisition
Students are expected to obtain a doctoral degree within the standard period of study (three years). For this reason, we have prepared an educational program that allows students to systematically conduct research activities from the first year to the third year. Students will be able to complete their dissertations by conducting research along these lines.
We will do our best to support you to make your dreams a reality.
Five pillars
(1) Dissertation guidance by multiple faculty members
At the time of admission, students can nominate a faculty member who specializes in the area closest to their research theme as their “chief supervisor”. The graduate school respects the student’s wishes and has created a support system consisting of a chief supervisor and two “secondary supervisors” (advisors) (three in total). The three academic advisors will regularly discuss guidance policies, confirm the progress of your research, and provide detailed guidance according to your achievement stage.
(2) Project research
“Project Research” is a course that gives credits for the research activities of graduate students, and credits are awarded based on the evaluation of each graduate student’s achievements in developing and implementing a half-year research plan and summarizing the results. There are also those that are recognized for credits by participating in the faculty’s research projects. This is a system that fosters an independent research attitude.
(3) Submission of articles to academic journals
In each of the first and second years, students will receive guidance to have their submitted papers published in academic journals.
This allows them to form the building blocks of a dissertation.
(4) Holding research conferences in an open format
In order to check the progress of your research, we will hold a public “research conference” twice a year.
This will prevent research guidance from becoming closed.
It is also used as a forum to share information among graduate students.
By meeting the requirements of publishing a paper in an academic journal, making a presentation at a research conference, and participating in and submitting comments on two presentations made by presenters at this conference or other presentations held by this graduate school, “Thesis Guidance A” (at the end of the first year) and “Thesis Guidance B” (at the end of the second year) are certified.
(5) Two-stage dissertation examination
In the third year, students will write a doctoral dissertation, which will be the culmination of their research activities to date.
You must submit your dissertation at least two months before the deadline for submission of the final review of the dissertation and an examination will be conducted for the submission permission of your dissertation at the preliminary review conference.
Guidance will be given on problems within the dissertation and areas for improvement.
Students will then be required to revise their thesis based on the guidance and submit it for doctoral dissertation.
After a public “Thesis Oral Presentation”, the dissertation will be reviewed.
