Educational Support System: Educational programs up to degree acquisition

Students are expected to obtain a doctoral degree within the standard study period (three years). For this reason, we have prepared an educational program that allows students to conduct systematic research activities from the first to the third year. Students will be able to complete their dissertations by conducting research along these lines.
We will do our best to support you in maiking your dreams a reality.

Five pillars

(1) Dissertation guidance by multiple faculty members

At the time of admission, students can nominate a faculty member who specializes in the area closest to their research theme as their “chief supervisor.” The graduate school respects the students’ wishes and each student is allocated a supervisory team consisting of a chief supervisor and two “secondary supervisors” (advisors) (three in total). The three academic advisors will regularly discuss guidance policies, confirm the student’s research progress, and provide detailed guidance according to the student’s achievement stages.

(2) Project research

“Project Research” is a course that provides credits for the research activities of graduate students based on the evaluation of each graduate student’s achievements in developing and implementing a half-year research plan and summarizing the results. Some are recognized for their contributions to participating in faculty’s research projects. This system fosters independent research attitudes.

(3) Submission of articles to academic journals

In the first and second years, students will receive advice for submitting their papers to academic journals.
This allows them to form the building blocks of a dissertation.

(4) Holding research conferences in an open format

To check the progress of your research, we will hold public “research conference” twice a year.
This will prevent research guidance from becoming closed.
It is also used as a forum to share information among graduate students.
By meeting the requirements of publishing a paper in an academic journal, making a presentation at a research conference, and participating in and submitting comments on two presentations made by presenters at this conference or other presentations held by this graduate school, “Thesis Guidance A” (at the end of the first year) and “Thesis Guidance B” (at the end of the second year) are certified.

(5) Two-stage dissertation examination

In the third year, students write a doctoral dissertation, which culminates in their current research activities.
You must submit your dissertation at least two months before the deadline for submission of the final review, and an examination will be conducted for the submission permission of your dissertation at the preliminary review conference.
Guidance will be given on problems within the dissertation and areas for improvement.
Students will then be required to revise their thesis based on the guidance and submit it as a doctoral dissertation.
After a public “Thesis Oral Presentation,” the dissertation will be reviewed.
