Four Majors Connected to Bachelor’s Education – Master’s Program
The Master’s Program consists of four majors: Humanities, Economics, Regional Development Studies, and International Studies. These programs are designed to carry on the education of the six bachelor’s programs in the College of Humanities, Economics, Regional Development Studies, and International Studies of the University. In addition, the Educational Support and Development Course in the Department of Regional Development Studies is closely linked to the School Education undergraduate program. The degrees offered are Master of Arts, Master of Economics, Master of Business Administration, Master of Regional Development Studies, Master of International Studies, and Master of Science. The Department of Economics and the Department of Regional Development Studies also offers a short-term (one-year) enrollment program that allows students to earn a degree in one year while continuing to work. After completion of the program, students may enter the doctoral program, work as public servants or work for general companies, etc.
Specialized and Interdisciplinary Research – Doctoral Program
The Doctoral Program of the Graduate School of Human and Socio-Environmental Studies consists of three courses: the Humanities Course, the Law and Political Science Course, and the Socio-Economic Studies Course. These courses serve as the parent body for the examination of doctoral dissertations, and are measures taken to provide research guidance appropriate to diverse research fields and diverse themes under the broad research field of human and social environmental studies.
The goal of the Doctoral Course is to nurture “advanced professionals” who are professionals engaged in research and education at universities, national and public research institutes, private think tanks, etc., or who are required to have specialized knowledge and research skills at companies and local governments. In addition to those who have advanced from the first semester, the second semester program attracts a diverse group of students, including public servants, company employees, and international students. The degrees available are Doctor of Social and Environmental Studies, Doctor of Literature, Doctor of Law, Doctor of Political Science, Doctor of Economics, or Doctor of Academic Science. After obtaining a degree, students may go on to diverse careers in research and education, as well as public service and general corporate employment.
